Cotodama was founded in Tokyo in 2016 to create a closer relationship between music and listeners. Its name refers to kotodama, the Japanese idea that words carry spirit or power. The company’s Lyric Sync Technology analyses a song’s words and musical impression, then displays the lyrics using motion, type and pacing selected for the track.

Cotodama was the first Asian company to win a prize at the SXSW Accelerator and later joined Abbey Road Red. Dyke & Dean stocks the Lyric Speaker Box in Night Black, Military Silver and a Karimoku-finished edition.
